Jūrmala is a city located in central Latvia, on the coast of the Baltic Sea, west of Rīga. In the inter-war period, it was a part of Riga county. It is made up of several smaller communities, that used to be considered separate estates (from east to west): Lielupe, Bulduri, Dzintari, Majori, Dubulti, Pumpuri, Melluži, Asari, Vaivari and Kaugari.
