Latgalian is a dialect of Latvian spoken in the eastern part of the country, in parts of the province of Latgale. It has a number of phonetic differences from Latvian. This category includes surnames that have such phonetic variations from standard Latvian, as well as surnames that are particular to Latgale. In most cases, the Latgalian variant is only visible within the page itself under "Variations and Alternate Spellings", except in cases where its variant is substantially different from the standard Latvian name.
