This category contains surnames that have roots in multiple languages. This could mean that the name is a compound name with elements from different languages (for example, Blūmkalns - first part "Blūms" is Germanic, second part "Kalns" is Latvian), or that the name comes from a word that has its roots in one language (usually German) and then the word itself (not just the surname) was adopted into everyday Latvian usage (for example, Bilde).
