Tombstone Tuesday – Ernests Eglītis, 1881-1940

In this series, I am providing pictures of tombstones from Latvian cemeteries, all with death dates prior to 1945. I do not have any further information on the people mentioned.

Name: Ernests Eglītis, born August 12, 1881, died February 25, 1940

Bottom Inscription: “Bet dziesma pēc dziesmas vēl dvēselē skan, Par tevi par tevi, kas zudis man” (“Song after song still sounds in my soul, About you, about you, who is lost to me”)

Location: Meža kapi, Rīga

    Have you taken a picture of every grave in Meža kapi? Is there a search facility to filter through them? I am looking for any others with the same name.

    No, not nearly close to all of them! Maybe sometime in the future, but if you’re looking for the location of a specific grave, you can contact the cemetery administration and they might be able to give you that information, assuming you have precise information about the person (date of death, etc.).
